The total number of COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya stands at 13, including one death

Shillong: As Meghalaya struggles to become a COVID-19 free state, the result of the fifth test carried out on the state’s 11th patient on Monday has now tested negative.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday took to Twitter to announce the development. “The 11th patient who has been coming out positive in the last two test conducted, was tested again and the result is negative. We will have to conduct another test after 24 hours for final outcome,” he tweeted.

The 11th patient had tested negative in the first retest after completing the 14-day quarantine period. However, the patient’s remaining retests after the first one all tested positive. This is the second time that the patient has tested negative.

As mentioned by Sangma, another test will be carried out after 24 hours for a final outcome.

The 11th case in the state is a family friend of the first case in Meghalaya. The state on Saturday recorded a new case taking the total cases to 13, including one death.
