Silchar: As a part of its initiative for proper implementation of different norms during the COVID-19 lockdown, the Silchar district administration has announced fine against the violators.
Silchar deputy commissioner, who is also the chairperson of the district disaster management authority, has announced various measures against anyone who violates COVID-19 lockdown norms.
The DC has announced that fine of Rs 100 will be imposed against non-wearing of masks, face covers in public place or in workplaces. Fine of Rs 200 will be imposed on anyone who spits in public places. Violation of social distancing norms will lead to imposition of fine of Rs 100.
“Violation of this order is punishable as per section 51 of DM Act and Section 188 IPC. Additionally, those refusing to pay will be liable for action/punishment under Section 188, IPC,” the order issued by the Cachar DC said on Thursday.
Earlier, Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna took to Twitter to address concerns regarding the disobedience of physical distancing norms after lockdown 3.0 relaxations were announced.
“Any violation of the lockdown relaxation terms, shall be dealt with strict actions against the individuals, establishments, businesses, car & scooter drivers and passengers including cancellation of licenses. FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAY SAFE.”
On May 3, Assam minister of health & family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma declared the new rules, relaxations, and measures for lockdown 3.0. One of the key major changes was the opening of offices, shops, and other establishments in accordance with the 6 am- 6 pm rule. During a press meet, Sarma even added, “All the new measures and relaxations will only work if everyone follows strict physical distancing norms and it is imperative that we do.”
