Kohima: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the COVID-19 patient from Dimapur in Nagaland admitted at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati is being discharged.
Taking to Twitter, the minister wrote on Friday, “Glad that 3 more patients are being discharged today.
# 2 Morigaon patients from MMCH, Ghy
# 1 patient from Civil Hosp, Golaghat
Additionally, one patient of Nagaland admitted at GMCH, Ghy is also being discharged. Only 9 active cases remain, as on date.”
As reported, the announcement also said that three more COVID-19 patients from Assam were being discharged on Friday, with a total tally of cured people in the state recording 32 out of the 42 cases reported so far.
Earlier during the day on Friday, Nagaland health secretary Kesonyu Yhome told reporters that the patient will be discharged soon, as he his latest result has tested negative. However, when asked about the number of times the patient was tested due to the fluctuating results, Yhome said that the state is “not privy of it”.
On April 12, Assam health minister had announced that a man from Nagaland who was referred to GMCH in Guwahati had tested positive of COVID-19.
The patient had since been undergoing treatment there. State officials had lately informed that the patient had tested COVID-19 positive in the first and third tests, although he has tested negative in the second and fourth tests.
Meanwhile, so far, a total of 664 samples have been sent for testing from Nagaland and 650 samples were declared negative. The results for the 14 samples are awaited. A total of 1,776 persons have been screened and a total of 29 persons are currently under facility quarantine, informed home commissioner Abhijit Sinha.
