Agartala: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has filed a complaint against senior journalist Arnab Goswami with the West Agartala police station for allegedly creating hatred among the religious groups in India.
PCC vice-president Tapas Dey in his complaint against Goswami, who is also the anchor & founder of Republic TV and Republic Bharat TV, said that comments made by Goswami are derogatory, defamatory and promote enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion and the same is prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony.
The complaint copy cited that Arnab Goswami, during the course of his opening statements at minutes of the said show said the following statements in Hindi, “jis desh ki 80% percent se zyada aabadi khul kar keh du aaj main.. jis desh ki 80% percent se zyada aabadi hindu hai sanatani hai kya waha hindu hona kya waha aaj bharat main gerua pehenana apradh ho gaya hai. desh bhar ke sant insaaf maang rahe hai aur Republic Bharat bhi insaaf mang raha hai aur Republic Bharat unki maang par hindu hriday samrat Uddhav Thakrey (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra) chup kyu hai poochta hai Bharat…inki aankhon ki jo mazhab wala lohashma ha…aaj main iss program par utarunga..yeh maut ka dharm talasha jaaye…maut par mazhab dekh kar maatam jaaye…”
Dey in his complaint said that the statement made by Goswami was derogatory, instigatory, defamatory with a view to creating hatred amongst the various communities, religious groups like Hindus, Muslims & to incite them against Congess president Sonia Gandhi and also to defame her and the party in the eyes of the people by making the aforesaid false allegations and statements.
“Mr. Arnab Goswami has made the said statement knowing fully well that the contents of the said statements involving the Congress party & Mrs. Sonia Gandhi are nothing but false. The said statement is also a threat to the national integration & communal harmony,” he wrote.
The complaint made against Goswami had charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy against Sonia Gandhi and Congress party under sections-120B, 124A, 153A, 153B, 186, 295A, 504, 505, 506, 509 of IPC.
Goswami had made a verbal attack over Sonia Gandhi on her silence on Palghar mob lynching that took place on April 16 in Maharashtra.
