Imphal: Students of Classes III, IV and V in Manipur will now have access to digital comic textbooks for an all-new learning experience. The new format of comic textbooks was launched by state education minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh at his office in Imphal on Tuesday.
The comic textbooks comprises three subjects — mathematics, environmental studies and English language — in a single format. Such e-textbooks will be soon made available for other classes as well, informed Radheshyam.
During the launch, the education minister said that because of the lockdown imposed to break the chain of infection and control the spread of coronavirus, educational institutions in the state have been closed for the past 21 days, which has now been extended till May 3, 2020 across the country.
He stated that as steps and measures to make up for the gap in the academic session, especially for schools, the department of education has initiated the new format of textbooks for Classes III, IV and V.
Minister Radheshyam also said that the decisions were made after thorough discussion and analysis with the experts and officials concerned of the department of education. He explained that the three-in-one digital comic textbooks for the three classes will have three to four chapters of each subject up to a total of 10 to 12 chapters in each book.
Meanwhile, the minister urged the teachers, parents and guardians of the students to make the best use of the e-textbooks.
The digital comic textbooks can be downloaded from the website www.manipureducation.gov.in.
