Responding to the appeal made by the Government for voluntary contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Joint Action Committee for Safeguard of Indigenous Manipuri People of Assam has extended monetary donation of Rs 50,000 to the Assam Arogya Nidhi.
Members of the Joint Action Committee handed over the cheque to Cachar Deputy Commissioner Barnali Sarma.
Guwahati wine shops to reopen from today
The State government has allowed the liquor shops in the State to reopen from Monday. According to an order issued by the Additional Commissioner of the State Excise department, all wine shops will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm. Meanwhile, the department asked the owners of the wine shops, wholesale warehouses, bottling plants, distilleries and breweries to ensure that the customers maintain social distancing.
Lockdown: Assam govt to abide by Centre’s directions
The State government will not take any decision on relaxing the lockdown on its own and will abide by the Central government’s directions. This was decided at the meeting of the council of ministers held at the Administrative Staff College here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal this afternoon. “The State government has decided that it will not take any unilateral decision regarding relaxing the lockdown till the Central government issues any instruction. We will wait for the Central government’s instruction and abide by it,” Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said after the meeting.
