Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Wednesday chaired a review meeting on the preparedness and measures taken by the administration and health department amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deb reviewed the overall situation with the ministers and top officials at the secretariat.

Meanwhile, the state government has decided to extend financial support to over 8,666 street vendors who are facing losses due to the lockdown. All those people would receive Rs 1,000 each from the chief minister’s relief fund.

“The chief minister and the officials concerned had threadbare discussions on the latest situation and the steps taken to deal with the situation. Some important decisions were taken in the meeting to fight the COVID19,” a press release informed.

Deb took to his twitter and wrote, “Chaired a vital meeting with ministers, CS & higher officials in connection to Corona Pandemic in our State. Analyzed latest situation & discussed various issues besides taking important decisions to fight this pandemic. We will leave no stone unturned to overcome this pandemic.”

Meanwhile, the chief minister was also apprised about the functions of various offices. Besides, there were discussions on the implementation status of various welfare schemes declared by the state and the Centre in view of the COVID-19 situation.

He said that there was no need to worry as the government was fully prepared and equipped to deal with any eventuality.

Deb also shared the status of the available stocks of various essential medical items — 1,111 PPEs, 1,420 N95 masks, 8,229 triple-layer masks and 1 lakh gloves available in GB Pant Hospital. Besides, another 2,500 PPEs would arrive in the state from Guwahati on Friday. He also wrote that the state had adequate rectified spirits and the government prepared 10,000 liters of sanitizers within the state.

The chief minister in a message also said that strict action would be taken if anyone is found to be involved in spreading any misinformation or misleading people or creating any panic situation or running any fake propaganda.
