Guwahati: With the lockdown still on amid the coroanvirus pandemic, it may sound a bit depressing if your birthday happens to fall on any of these days. Stop reminiscing the previous year’s birthday parties, stop scrolling your gallery, skip the memories that appear on your Instagram handle and swipe right past that Facebook birthday wish.
However, with a bit of creativity and help from the ones around you, you can still make your birthday creatively fun and happening.
Virtual party: Can’t throw a normal party or even attend a surprise party? Fret not. Thanks to the wonders of technology, you can socialise with your friends virtually, no matter how far they may be. If it’s one of your friends whose birthday is around the corner, then organise an online party surprise. Video calls need not be just about chatting. Set up an online quiz or party game to play with friends and family.
The restaurant at home: Well, you might not be able to head out to your favourite restaurant to celebrate your birthday but it doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy some excellent home cooking. Type the dish you have always wanted to experiment on YouTube and just get cooking. If you are not alone, then be the boss for the day and enjoy ordering your family members or your spouse or your roommate for that perfect three-course birthday meal.
DIY the house: Something usually not possible as you don’t have time to clean up the mess later. Hence, it becomes the perfect time. Create photo booths from old newspapers or hardcover cut-outs and pose for the birthday pic or even surprise yourself with your own creative talents (who knows, a career change might be imminent after the lockdown?).
Movie night/ game night: After the party is over, plan a movie night with your roommate or family or even alone (#independent life rules) by dimming those lights and getting comfy on the couch. If you have a group of people around, take the special privilege of your birthday to know all the deep dark secrets of the ones around you with a game night.
Pub crawl: Just because its lockdown doesn’t mean that you cannot bring the club back to you by getting creative and putting different glasses of drinks in different rooms. Or, yet again impress your family and friends with being a top-notch YouTube verified bartender with those Instagram post-worthy cocktails and mocktails.
