Agartala: Two men from Tripura who had attended the religious congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz last month have tested positive in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, informed heath secretary Debashish Basu.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Basu said that information of two Tripura men being tested positive was received. “A team of 11 persons from Boxanagar in Sepahaijala district had attended the Markaz in Delhi, of which two have tested positive in Rajasthan,” Basu said.
He also said that they had left Agartala on March 5 and after attending the Markaz, on March 8, they left for Bikaner in Rajasthan.
“The group after attending the congregation did not return to the state and went to Bikaner in Rajasthan. When the Rajasthan authorities tested them, two of them tested COVID-19 positive. They have been kept under surveillance in facility quarantine,” Basu added.
He also said that the duo had direct contact with Karimganj district’s COVID-19 patient who was the first person to have tested positive in neighbouring Assam.
Speaking further, he said that a total of 6,620 passengers are under quarantine which includes 6,486 in home quarantine and 134 in facility quarantine.
Over 161 samples have been tested so far in the state and all of them have tested negative. Up to 3,204 people have completed the observation period of 14 days.
Meanwhile, in the Northeast, a total of 29 cases have been reported with Assam having the highest 25 cases followed by Manipur with two and Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram with one each of COVID-19 positive cases till 12 noon of April 4.
