Guwahati: Assam’s ace sprinter Hima Das on Friday was among the group of eminent sportspersons who interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference today.
During the interaction, Das expressed sadness at incidents of attacks on police personnel and doctors trying to discharge their duties during the country-wide lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, reported The Quint.
In a video shared later, she said that during the interaction we told him what we were doing during the lockdown.
“The other thing I told the was, I feel sad that people attacked policemen and doctors by throwing stones at them. These people don’t follow lockdown rules,” she added referring to incidents of unruliness in Indore and Ghaziabad, which have triggered outrage.
Das was a member of the video call along with other sports personalities including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rani Rampal, PV Sindhu, Sharad Kumar, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli among others.
During the interaction, PM said that they have a very important role to play in boosting the morale of the nation and in spreading the message of social distancing along with asking people to continuously follow advisories given during lockdown.
He asked them to follow five points in their message to people: ‘Sankalp’ to fight the pandemic, ‘Sanyam’ to follow social distancing, ‘Sakaratmakta’ to maintain positivity, ‘Samman’ to respect the frontline soldiers in this battle including the medical fraternity, the police personnel etc. and ‘Sahyog’ at a personal level as well as at national level through contribution to PM-CARES fund.
