Full disclosure, even I have not completed this series, but I did watch enough to tell you a bit about what you are into. This 2020 Austrian-German series follows young Sigmund Freud, yes you guessed it right the founder of psychoanalysis as he works to solve a string of gory and dark string of murders. With elements of supernatural or witchiness to be exact, this murder mystery takes a deep dive into the human psyche. A must watch series of 2020.
This British drama series is set in the dingy industrialised world of Birmingham in the year of 1919. The men of the Shelby family return home after gaining many laurels from the war to find a booming business of racehorse betting by the women of the house. As Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) takes over the business, his cunning and fierceness take the business to a legit gangster family who sews razor blades in the peak of their caps. The series takes place at a very tumultuous time of British history with women empowerment issues, communism, the rise of gang wars over territory, drugs, money and many more. With a real-life gang and with the addition of Winston Churchill elements (obviously a character) the series becomes very addictive.
If you are into serial killers of the past decade or two then this is a must-watch on your list. Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the minds to actually figure the thought process of the criminal. With FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench while trying to catch criminals by diving deep into their damaged psyches, they develop a modern system of serial killer profiling as they go on interviewing killers of the likes of Charles Manson, Edmund Kemper, etc. The series based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E Douglas and Mark Olshaker is a nail-biting one for sure.
With picturesque geography, ice and snow and black rock faces of Iceland captured in perfect detail, you know the series is worth the watch. Police profiler Arnar is sent back home from Oslo to Iceland to help in the investigation of a serial killer case with local cop Kata. As the series progresses we are made aware of the dark past of the city which is linked to a group of boys and a mysterious photograph. Cold, mysterious, foggy and hauntingly picturesque visuals, the series is a must stream on Netflix.
