The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – Main is undoubtedly one of the most important examinations for admission into various engineering and architectural courses including the prestigious IITs and NITs etc. Since 2019, several changes have been introduced in the selection process for JEE Main 2020, which benefit aspirants. One of the biggest being an opportunity to take the exams twice in a year.
Here is a look at the amendments in JEE Main 2020 are-
● Sessions of JEE Main 2020 Exam will be held in the month of January and while another in April but the exam has been postponed due to COVID-19. The exam will now be held in May last week.
●The entrance exams will be conducted online
● National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced Practice Test Centers which will help the candidates to get familiar with the exam and the latest pattern.
One of the main advantages of conducting JEE Main 2020 twice a year for the students is that it will allow them to try their luck twice a year. Candidates planning to get admission into IITs or NITs have to study harder as the selection will be based on their best performance in the exam. For the candidates attempting in both the session exams, their best score will be counted.
The JEE Main 2020 will be organized in the months of January and April which will offer an equal opportunity to all the candidates to appear for the entrance exam, the candidates can either appear in any one of the sessions or are allowed to give both the exams as well. The panel of judges will consider the best score (among the sessions appeared for) of the candidates while preparing the all India rank list.
For the January session, the application procedure will start from 1st week of September each year, whereas for the candidates giving the exam in April, the application procedure will start in the second week of February every year.
Some other amendments
The candidates will be able to appear for JEE Main from the eight options (two sessions each for a span of four days) for both the sessions. Once the official brochure will be released by NTA, the candidates giving the exam can get more accurate information regarding the same.
Also by introducing practice test centres, NTA has made it easier for the candidates, especially belonging to the rural areas and are not well equipped with the concept of online exam, to practice at these centres without paying any charges as well to use the facility. The candidates will be able to learn new skills and will be able to appear for the entrance after going through sufficient practice papers.
The admission process regarding the selection of the eligible candidates for admission in NITs or IITs will begin post both the exam sessions are concluded. The authorities will then release a combined rank list for the candidates who had given both the examination sessions and the seats under various participating colleges will be allotted accordingly. The syllabus, languages, style of the exam, course content and the fees are the same to make the procedure hassle-free for all the applicants.
So all those candidates who are preparing for JEE Main 2020 need to pull up their socks as the merit margins and the level of paper are anticipated to rise because the paper will be set by a group of scholars and other professionals. With the latest change allowing the JEE Main 2020 aspirants to give the exam two times a year, the competition will also increase manifolds.
So start preparing well for the exams, so that you can get admission to your dream college. Best of Luck!
