New Delhi: The Delhi government has put 800 people, who came in contact with a 49-year-old COVID-19 positive doctor, on quarantine on Tuesday.
The doctor worked in an Mohalla clinic in Shahdara. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 21, after a 38-year-old woman who had returned from Saudi Arabia visited the clinic near his house.
The doctor’s 48-year-old wife and 17-year-old daughter have also tested positive.
According to reports, those who went to the clinic between March 12 and 18 have been asked to go on quarantine for at least 15 days.
Five new coronavirus cases were reported in Delhi, pushing the number of total cases to 35, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday.
Amid reports of medical staffers being harassed by landlords to vacate the premises, Kejriwal requested the house owners to not misbehave with the professionals out to fight and contain the virus.
