Itanagar: The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police investigating the alleged malpractices in the LDC/JSA examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) in February this year has arrested 13 more persons in connection with the case.
The SIC has arrested 4 brokers — Mongam Basar, Yamak Dui, Yanyi Bage and Taba Rinyo — for acting as conduits between the candidates and the then under secretary of APSSB while 8 candidates — Senia Bagang, Oti Takuk, Kenjum Lendo, Tatem Darang, Diasy Yapi Godak, Mosmi Dui, Tame Nacham and a vendor Surojit Das — who supplied materials to the APSSB have also been arrested by the SIC’s team.
SIC (vigilance) superintendent of police Harsha Vardhan said all the arrests were made between March 11 and 21.
“The total arrests in the case has risen to 16 as the SIC has earlier arrested the then APSSB under secretary Kapter Ringu and two data entry operators — Tame Tania, Khem Raj — of the board last month,” the SP said adding that some of the arrested persons are under police custody and the rest are under judicial custody.
“The SIC is unraveling every individual’s monetary transaction and is committed to a full and fair investigation. As it is an ongoing investigation, more arrests are likely in the case,” Vardhan said.
Following allegations of malpractice and failure to conduct the examination in a fair manner, a case under several sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act was lodged on February 16 with the SIC.
The state government has already suspended S K Jain who was earlier posted as secretary and controller of examinations of the APSSB for alleged gross administrative negligence.
A high-level inquiry committee comprising Arunachal Bhavan, New Delhi’s principal resident commissioner Jitendra Narain and state PWD and Home commissioner Kaling Tayeng has also been constituted to thoroughly inquire and find out lapses which resulted to the APSSB fiasco.
