Agartala: Altogether, 171 travelers have been taken into home quarantine and 28 of them released after completion of the statutory period, while 143 of them are still in 14 days of surveillance, said state health secretary Dr Debasish Basu.
Speaking at a press conference, Basu said that chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with the chief secretary held a review meeting with all the eight district magistrates and superintendents of police through video conference and took note on the latest update and preparation made by the administration.
“We have tested five suspected persons and 15 of them are kept in the quarantine at the nursing training institute, IGM hospital building, while two more quarantine buildings have been identified in Agartala that include the hostels of the cooperative departments training institute and SIPART,” Basu said.
He also said that all the land custom stations have been closed except Akhaura which has resulted in extra load and increase in the risk of spread of COVID-19. The chief secretary has taken up the matter with the home ministry to close the ICP.
“The data available with the state government, and data available with the district administration do not match, which means some of them have escaped. We have decided to place notice boards in front of the gate of quarantine residents and stamp hands of the suspects,” Basu added.
Speaking further, Basu said that the saliva swap of those who are kept in quarantine is collected on the 5th and 14th day for test and after testing the samples they are released.
The health department has also identified the newly build PHC to be used in the districts as quarantine. The BSF and the Assam Rifles are also setting up a quarantine facility in the battalions and leave extended for those who are already on leave.
“Two isolation centres with a total of 11 beds have been set up including five beds in IGM hospital and six in GBP hospital, while SIPART hostel will have 16 beds, cooperative 35, NTI building 130 and 10 beds each in the newly build PHCs for quarantine,” he said.
