Kohima: As a precautionary step to prevent and control the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Nagaland government has directed the deputy commissioners (DCs) of all districts in the state to ensure that the precautionary measures issued by it are enforced. It also granted authority to the DCs to necessitate action in case of failure on part of the persons to comply with the instructions.
The precautionary measures, issued by principal secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha, notified all DCs to ensure that the laid-down instructions are followed as a caution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It instructed that all shops and other establishments which are frequented by public to mandatorily keep hand sanitizers or provide facilities for hand washing with soap and water for the public as well as for their own staff/workers and that the proprietor of the shops and establishments should regularly get the door handles, surfaces and other objects which are frequently touched by people cleaned and disinfected.

It instructed all the restaurants /eating places across the district to provide facilities for hand washing with soap and water for the public as well as for their own staff/workers. It also instructed all the hotels/guest houses/rest houses to provide facilities for hand wash with soaps and water for their guests and travelers as well as for their own staff/workers. It notified that these places must be regularly cleaned and disinfected.
It also instructed all the municipal councils, towns and urban stations to regularly clean and disinfect all the public places. Public and private carriers which include buses, taxis, auto rickshaws, two-wheellers, carrying passengers are instructed to regularly clean and disinfect the seats, door handles, railings, surfaces,.
Directing the DCs to immediately issue to these instructions, it said that officers must be detailed to regularly check the enforcement of these orders and further necessitate actions if anyone fails to comply with the instructions.
