Arunachal Pradesh MP Tapir Gao

New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao has urged the Centre to issue a advisory to all the states of the country against the alleged racial discrimination against people from Northeastern states in the wake of the novel coronavirus scare.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the senior BJP leader from Arunachal Pradesh said: “The coronavirus disease is spread all across the country; however, between all this the people of the Northeast are facing a double coronavirus. In the midst of the outbreak, the people upon seeing a northeastern face in the universities, colleges, and schools are saying look here comes coronavirus.”

Gao said students from the Northeast, who are living in different parts of the country, are also being asked to vacate their rented accommodation and hostels.

“I urge the Centre to issue an advisory to all the states of the country against the racial discrimination. This is a conspiracy to divide the northeast and the rest of country,” Gao said.
