Decision taken by Government of People’s Republic of Nagalim not to hold its ‘Republic Day’ celebration on March 21 owing to coronavirus aka COVID-19 pandemic
Kohima: Amid coronavirus (COVID-19) scare, Naga group NSCN-IM has called off its ‘Republic Day’, celebration which is observed on March 21, as a preventive measure towards controlling the spread of the deadly virus. The announcement was made through an official statement issued by its ministry of information and publicity (MIP) on Tuesday evening.
It said that in solidarity with the declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), the decision was taken by the Government of People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN).
The statement also said that the GPRN’s ‘Budget Session’ has been postponed indefinitely. It added that the celebration of Naga Freedom Fighters’ Widow Welfare Federation silver Jubilee is also postponed.
While no interview or press conference will be entertained, it said that there will be “no media interaction whatsoever'. Furthermore, it said that 'no meeting' will be held.
