Guwahati: In an effort to promote women’s health and well being in the beauty industry, a free health camp was organised at KGMT Hospital in Guwahati on Sunday by renowned fashion designer Megha Rai Medhi as a prelude to her coveted fashion show Autumn Notes 3
The free medical camp started at around 11 am and was availed by 147 people in the age group of 16-60 years, the attendees were from different walks of life including students, housewives, daily wage workers and 14 children.
The health check-ups included several essential departments for women like gynaecology, dermatology, pediatric, plastic surgery, general medicine, orthopaedics etc.
The main fashion event will be held in the month of May at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati.
Medhi aka Meghna Mehzabin, a distinguished fashion entrepreneur and philanthropist, said that in the first editions of Autumn Notes, they auctioned a designer Paat Muga outfit and raised Rs 50,000, which they donated to an NGO working for the treatment of cancer patients, and in the second season they donated Rs 1,00,000 to the same cause and also aided 6 meritorious students with a scholarship of Rs 10,000 each.
Speaking with EastMojo, she said that for Autumn Notes-3, she wanted to do something for women, as, for women to come out and equally walk the same steps, and be equally successful is tough and needs a lot of strength. So, she and her peers, worked up the idea of the health camp, in which her friend, Dr Nivedita Goswami, a distinguished paediatrician in the city helped her.
She said that doing something like this gives a different satisfaction, and added that she would like to continue this endeavour for three more events.
She emphasised on the need to have a healthy life in order to attain professional well being, as, if one is not healthy, they can’t deliver their best, irrespective of their profession.
The health camp was graced by eminent personalities of Assam such as National Award-winning actor Moloya Goswami, celebrity chef Atul Lahkar, fitness and nutrition expert Bhaskar Kaushik, and model turned actress Preetykongona.
