Agartala: Two days after the Opposition CPI-M terming the BJP-IPFT government reign as ‘black day’, the state law minister Ratan Lal Nath reacted sharply on the Left front and said that on March 3, 2018 the people of the Agartala ended the 25-year-old ‘Black Chapter’ in the state.
Speaking in a press conference, Nath said that the Opposition CPI-M has insulted the mandate of the people that voted BJP-IPFT to power by terming March 3 as ‘black day’.
“The term used against the government is an insult of the people in the state who voted us into power in 2018 last. The people of Tripura are now free from left terror. They voted BJP into power so that they can live in a peaceful environment,” Nath said.
He also said that the way CPI-M state secretary Goutam Das has termed March 3 as black day, he has disrespected the people of the state and he should apologise to the people. He has made a mistake.
Nath’s statement came two days after the opposition CPI-M state secretary Goutam Das termed March 3 as ‘black day’ taking a dig on their celebration ‘Mukti Diwas’ or freedom day.
Speaking further he said the number of incidents that took place in the Left regime cannot be ignored and the data proves that end of the Left rule was the end of ‘black chapter’.
“During the Left front government from 1993 to 2017 around 1,140 cases of dacoity were reported and the highest number was reported on the first day of the Left front government in the year 1993 which was 206, while after formation of BJP-IPFT government in 2018 around 10 cases were reported,” Nath added.
He also said that the number of rapes has reduced in the state after the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in the state.
“In the year from 1993-2017 a total number of 3,757 rape cases were reported and the highest number was reported in 2014. In 2018-19 around 353 rape cases were reported,” Nath said.
Talking about the death forces in fighting militancy in the state, over 425 officials from the Tripura police, Tripura state rifles (TSR) and central forces had died in the state.
“The terrorist issue in the state had started due to the Left Front government and for which over 4, 782 persons died, while more than 3, 514 were kidnapped from across the state,” Nath added.
He also lashed out at the previous government for the 802 political murders that took place in the state during the erstwhile government, adding that not a single political murder was reported in last two years of the government.
