Parikrama lead guitarist Sonam Sherpa

Guwahati: In order to pay tribute to Sonam Sherpa and his immense contribution to the Indian music scene, and also to celebrate his life and music, locals of Darjeeling and Kalimpong have come together to organise music concerts on April 10 and 11.

The concerts will also pay tribute to all the rock musicians of Darjeeling region who demised in the past.

Speaking with EastMojo, Bipul Chettri, one of the popular folk singers of Sikkim, said, “This tribute gig is a small token of our love and appreciation as well as a celebration of Sonam Sherpa’s life.”

“He left a wonderful legacy of his music as well as being a person of utmost humility. He led the path of his own choosing by just focusing on music and didn’t waver from it. He is deeply missed by us and the fraternity,” Chettri added.

The two-day music event will feature bands like Parikrama, Bipul Chettri and the Travelling Band, Abhaya and the Steam Engines and many other local musicians.
