Imphal: Laishram Mangoljao Singh alias Lamyanba Khuman, the self-styled chairman of banned Manipur-based Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group (KCP-PWG), was arrested along with his associate by a joint team of Manipur Police and Delhi Police’s Special Cell in the national capital on Sunday, said reports.

As per reports, the KCP-PWG leader along with his associate, Hijibur Rehman alias Ithemcha Lokhon, also an active member of the organisation, had come to Burari in north Delhi in search for their hideout when they were arrested by the security forces.

The joint special team of police had carried out a search in north Delhi area after receiving specific information on their presence and movements. Later, Lamyanba and his associate were arrested from Nirankari Sarovar bus stand, reports said.

Further interrogation is underway to find out relevant information on their activities and their associates, reports said.

A cash prize of Rs 1 lakh was announced by Manipur Police on the arrest of Lamyanba, said reports.

Lamyanba and his close aide have been wanted for their alleged involvement in various heinous crime cases, including terror-related activities like lobbing of grenades, shootouts, killings, planting of explosive devices, running extortion networks by intimidating businessmen and politicians in Manipur, reports said.

Over the years, a team of special cell was working to trace down various militant groups and individuals involved in anti-national activities. Both Manipur and Delhi had deployed a team to achieve the common goal and the arrest of Lamyanba and his close aide is one of the joint achievements, reports said.
