Shillong: After the violent protests in northeast Delhi, people from all walks of life, communities and faiths in Meghalaya capital Shillong came together to stand in solidarity with the people of the national capital on Friday.
Thma U Rangli (TUR) organised an all-faith solidarity vigil at Don Bosco ground in Shillong. The event saw the participation of people from all communities.
TUR leader Angela Rangad, while addressing the gathering, said, “The coming together of members of Hindu, Sikh, Christian and Muslim communities, among others, is not just a victory in itself but also a beginning.”
While speaking at the programme, Dr Kamaljit Singh, a participant, said they stand in solidarity against the victims of mindless violence in the country. “We should condemn all forms of violence, not only in New Delhi, but even in UP and Shillong,” he said.
