Kokrajhar: Rashmi Borgoyary, a social activist and wife of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, passed away at a Guwahati-based hospital in Assam after suffering from cancer for a long time.

As per sources, Rashmi was a cancer patient and was undergoing treatment in Guwahati where she breathed her last on Tuesday morning. She was 45.

Hailing from Bashbari Ashrabari in Assam’s Chirang district, Rashmi was actively working along with her husband Kampa Borgoyary for development in BTC region of the state.

Commenting on social media, BTC chief Hagrama Mohiallary expressed grief over her demise and stated that Rashmi courageously fought against cancer till her last breath. Remembering her social work at BTC, Mohillary further stated that Rashmi was a person with a kind soul and smiling face and she always treated everyone equally.

“I pray to Almighty for her eternal peace in the heaven and at this hour of grief, my hearty support goes out to the bereaved family members,” Mohillary posted on his Facebook account.

As per sources, Rashmi’s mortal remains will be taken to her native village in state’s Chirang district later on Tuesday afternoon.
