Agartala: The Sangbidhan Bachao Manch, a joint forum of the Left Front and Congress supporting lawyers, swept the Tripura Bar Association election 2020 against the Opposition, Tripura state BJP law and legal affairs department, by winning 12 out of 15 seats on Sunday.

Speaking with EastMojo, senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas said that result of the Tripura Bar Association elections is the first step towards the misrule of the state government.

“In last two years, the people across the state have been suffocating and the elections of the bar association has come as a sign of relief from them. The intervening nature of the government could be seen everywhere including Court,” Biswas said.

He also said that this is a joint protest against the misrule going on across the state.

“We are sure about the win in High Court bar association elections as well. We will win in the High Court. The lawyers are not happy with the selection process and that is why they have protested against the misrule and misconduct of power”, Biswas added.

Speaking further he said that never in the history of the Tripura bar association elections the lawyers voted against a particular cell.

“The result was expected from earlier since the advocates were disappointed against the appointment of the PP, APP and other various post without following the merit list. The lawyers have answered by voting against their candidates,” Biswas added.
