Agartala: The main accused of the Rs 600 crore state PWD scam — former state PWD minister Badal Choudhury, former state chief secretary Yash Pal Singh and former chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik– were grilled by the crime branch officials till late night hours at NCC police station on Friday.

It is reported that all three accused persons were confronted by the investigating officer with documents and statements made by each to find similarities in it, sources confirmed the EastMojo.

The interrogation started in the afternoon and it continued till late night hours. This is for the first time since October 13 last year the police have got a chance to interrogate the accused jointly.

Separate notices were served to Choudhury and Bhowmik through their counsel to appear in front of the investigating officer in New Capital Complex (NCC) police station for a joint interrogation starting on Saturday afternoon.

Yah Pal Singh, who is presently in police custody, would be produced in the court on Sunday. He was arrested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and brought back to the state in transit remand.

The investigating officer will also file the report in the special judge court seeking further custody of the accused Yash Pal Singh, sources informed.

The crime branch is yet to file the chargesheet in the court even four months after the case being registered in a PWD scam amounting to more than Rs 600 crore.

Meanwhile, the police have found some missing documents related to the PWD scam and that would be produced in the court by the investigating officer, sources informed.

The police had booked all three of them on October 13 last year in an alleged multi-crore scam, but Choudhury got the bail for two days and was later absconding until October 21, when he was admitted to ILS hospital.

Yash Pal was arrested was detained from IRS Apartments in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad and brought back to Agartala on Wednesday last.
