Itanagar: The special investigation cell (SIC) of the state police has arrested two persons — Senia Bagang and Mongam Basar — in connection with alleged malpractices in the LDC/JSA examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).

The SIC was investigating the case under several sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.

“The arrests were made based on evidence collected in this case so far and Mongam Basar had acted in connivance with the officials of APSSB to indulge in such malpractices,” SIC (vigilance) superintendent of police Harsha Vardhan said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Vardhan said that APSSB under secretary Kapter Ringu is evading the SIC teams and has not joined the investigation.

A non-bailable warrant has been issued against her by the additional district and sessions judge court, Yupia, the SP said while adding that all efforts are being made to unearth the conspiracy and action as per law will be taken at the earliest.

The arrests come days after a suspicious optical mark recognition (OMR) sheet, bearing roll number 2025546, was widely circulated on social media and for which the APSSB has been drawing flak from all quarters.

The answer sheet that has landed APSSB in trouble

As per the results of the exams — which were published on the board’s website on February 14, the candidate with roll number 2025546 has been shortlisted for the skill test. However, if one goes through the OMR sheet, it suggests that the candidate had left the answer sheet blank.

As per sources, Senia is the aspirant who had left the answer sheet blank.
