Kohima: Nagaland Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Temjen Imna Along on Friday conveyed “sincere appreciation” on behalf of the saffron party to the 22 former members who joined the Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Wednesday.
Taking a strong stand against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019, BJP leaders, some even of senior level of the Nagaland state unit of the BJP left the party and joined the opposition (NPF) at a ceremony held in Dimapur on Tuesday.
Reacting to it, a press statement issued by the BJP state unit president said: “The state BJP will always cherish the selfless services these defected members had rendered towards the party , and hope that their dominant union with NPF will undoubtedly boost the spirit of the opposition party , as well as facilitate the NPF to bear much fruits.”
Along further said that the BJP wishes them all the very best in their future endeavours.
As reported earlier, this move was a major boost to the Opposition party as the former BJP leaders were officially welcomed by the NPF president, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu to the party. Liezietsu has said that it is expected that more such right-thinking leaders will join the party soon,
