Guwahati: Assam Police on Thursday rewarded its constable hailing from Sivasagar district who, in an exemplary noble gesture of wishing good luck, distributed pens among candidates of Class X (Matriculation) board examinations and Class XII (Higher Secondary) on their first day on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.
As per a statement issued by Assam Police headquarters and signed by state Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta recently, the department rewarded Gogoi hailing from Likhripukhri of Sivasagar district for his exemplary gesture of distributing pens on his own expenses to HSLC and HSSLC candidates at Nitai Pukhuri HS school and Hemchandra Deva Goswami Mahavidyalaya on the first day of their examinations on February 10 and 12, respectively.
Meanwhile, in a recent post on Twitter, Assam Police hailed Gogoi’s inspiring spirit expressing that it was a good luck gesture of its own kind. The state police further expressed that it was more power to the might of the pen and the young policeman’s spirit.

Notably, earlier in a heartwarming video that went viral on social media, constable Gogoi was seen greeting the candidates with pens at this year’s crucial HSLC and HSSLC exams that started on February 10 and 12, respectively.
According to reports, a total of 2,34,809 student are appearing for the 2020 HS exams across 722 centres in Assam. Of these, 1,75,175 students from the Arts stream, 40,588 from Science and 18,178 from Commerce are to appear in the exams.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,58,446 students are taking the HSLC and Assam High Madrassa 2020 examinations across 860 centres in the state. Of these, 3,48,739 are appearing for the HSLC examination and 9,707 for the AHM examination.
