Agartala: In a sensational case of rape and murder of a 15-year-old minor girl on December 5, 2018, a special court on Thursday sentenced capital punishment to two youths of Krishnakanta Para under Amarpur subdivision of Tripura’s Gomati district.
The judge of the special court, AK Nath, pronounced the judgment under Sections 302, 367 (a), 376 (d), 363 ,120 and 120(b) and POCSO Act.
Speaking with reporters, special public prosecutor Paltu Das said that on December 5, 2018, under Natun Bazar police station, a 15-year-old girl, who was on her way to school, was kidnapped by two youths, identified as Kastharai Tripura and Ananta Tripura, and killed after being raped.
“At the end of the day, when the girl did not return home, the family members started searching for the girl. The family members came to know about the incident from two other friends of the deceased. When the villagers started looking for the duo, convict Kastharai fled from the village while the other was caught,” the special public prosecutor said.
He also said that the accused later accepted to have committed the crime and were later handed over to the police by the villagers. The police later recovered the body of the minor girl after interrogating the accused.

“Two days after being on a run, the other accused person was also arrested by the police. The brother of the deceased had filed a case with the police and after investigation the charge sheet filed by the police. The court after recording the statement of 32 witnessed reserved the order for Thursday,” Das added.

The court on Wednesday after completing the hearing and recording the statements of the witness under Sections 302,367(a), 376(d), 363,120 and 120(b) and POCSO Act found them guilty.
“The Gomati special judge AK Nath on Thursday under Sections 302 of IPC and 376 (a) sections pronounced capital punishment. The court also found them guilty under Section 376 (d) giving lifetime imprisonment, seven years in imprisonment under Section 363, seven years of imprisonment under Sections 201 and 120 (b) and seven years in imprisonment and Rs 10,000 penalty under POCSO Act , failing which they would get another two months of imprisonment,” Das added.
