Agartala: In a shocking incident, at least five parked buses were gutted in a fire that took place at Rajarbagh motor stand in Udaipur subdivision of Gomati district in Tripura in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Speaking with reporters, officer-in-charge of RK Pur police station Shyamal Chakraborty said that around 12:30 am, the information of fire at Rajarbagh Motor Stand was received, where more than 20 buses were parked.
“Four buses were fully gutted, while one was partially damaged in the incident. A case has been registered and investigation is going on to ascertain the reason behind the fire,” the OC said.
Five fire engines from three fire stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. No causalities was reported in the incident. Even the owners of the buses are clueless on how the fire broke out, Chakraborty said.
Meanwhile, Udaipur subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Aniruddha Roy said that there were no security guards and even no CCTV cameras were installed at the motor stand.
“The motor stand does not have a security guard and CCTV is also not installed, so this is difficult to find how the fire started. The cause is yet to be ascertained,” he said.
Transport minister Pranajit Singha Roy also visited the spot on Wednesday and held a meeting with the people there. He directed the authority of the motor stand to install CCTV cameras and to deploy a security guard at the earliest.
