Agartala: Ahead of the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), supporters from various political parties, including CPI-M, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) and BJP, have started joining the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), claim party officials.
Speaking with EastMojo, IPFT assistant general secretary Mangal Debbarma said that as part of the ADC poll campaign in Bagmara area under Ambassa subdivision of Dhalai district, a total of 316 voters from 83 families joined IPFT recently.
“A number of people from the BJP, CPI-M and INPT are joining IPFT across the ADC and this shows how people have lost their faith on the present government and other parties,” Debbarma said.
He also said that IPFT has launched a massive poll campaign in the ADC area and as a part of it joining programmes are also being held in different areas each day.
“We have been asking people to join us and help the party to continue the fight against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and demand for a separate Tipraland and implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state. In the last one week, over 4,000 people from BJP, CPI-M, INPT parties have joined the party,” Debbarma said.
On Sunday, one such mass joining programme was organised in presence of IPFT leaders like Mangal Debbarma, Prasanta Debbarma, Sukla Ch. Noatia, Amit Debbarma and Swapna Debbarma, among others.
Debbarma also said that the IPFT would outshine the ADC polls and no other political party would be in the run for the elections.
“The CPI-M has lost their ground and no other political party can compete in the ADC polls with IPFT. We have worked hard and the people have seen the results with one after another massive reform and policies developing the ADC area,” Debbarma added.
