Agartala: The Opposition CPI-M has announced to launch a door-to-door campaign to create awareness among the masses against various Central policies like Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).
Speaking at a press conference in Agartala, CPI-M state secretary Gautam Das said that the BJP has implemented the CAA and NRC in the country to fulfill the agenda of the RSS and divide the people. The main purpose behind the implementation of the policies is to drive out the minority people, especially the Muslim community from the country, Das alleged.
He also said that except for the ruling BJP, not a single political party has supported the implementation of the CAA and NRC.
“Only BJP wanted to implement these policies and they have done this with the majority in Parliament. All the parties and students organisations are protesting against the CAA, NPR and NRC. If the NPR is implemented then the people from the minority community would be worst affected,” Das added.
The CPI-M announced the campaign at the end of the two-day state committee meet in Agartala party headquarters on Sunday.
“A door-to-door campaign across the state will begin from February, which will continue till March next. We will meet people and ask them to come forward and protest against the CAA, NPR and NRC,” Das said.
Das also took a dig over the ruling BJP-IPFT government for not fulfilling the pre-poll promises to solve the problems like unemployment in the state.
“The law-and-order situation has totally collapsed across the state and the rights of the people are being depressed by the ruling government. The crime against women is also on a rise each day,” Das added.
The CPI-M leader has also expressed dissatisfaction over the recent agreement signed in New Delhi between the governments of Mizoram and Tripura along with representatives from the Centre and the leaders of the Bru community.
