There is nothing like Bodo or Non-Bodo, says NDFB’s Ranjan Daimary

Guwahati: Amidst fear and speculations looming large among non-Bodo communities residing in Bodoland Territorial Council that they will be left out from their existing rights and privileges after signing of the historic Bodo peace accord, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) leader Ranjan Daimary assured that it was a tripartite agreement signed with the government and concerns of BTC residents will be taken into consideration.

Speaking with EastMojo, Daimary said that there is nothing like Bodo or non-Bodo as per the peace agreement and it will not harm rights of the non-Bodo residents of the Bodo Territorial Council (BTC). He further alleged that only a few selected leaderships are bringing in the agenda of Bodo and non-Bodo in connection to the peace agreement.

“There is nothing like Bodo or non-Bodo and it will not harm the non-Bodos in the BTC region, only a few selected leaders are spreading this agenda,” Daimary alleged.

Talking on the special interim bail granted to him by court in order to participate in the Bodo peace agreement, Daimary revealed that he will move the Gauhati High Court days before his interim bail term of four weeks comes to end seeking a further extension of his release citing his importance in implementation process of the tripartite agreement.

“We will move the Gauhati HC before ending of my interim bail term and I am hopeful that the honourable court will provide an extension to my release,” Daimary added.

On January 24, Gauhati High Court in a special judgment provided an interim bail of four weeks to Ranjan Daimary after depositing a personal bond of Rs 50,000. Following this, Daimary was released from Guwahati Central Jail on January 25 afternoon and from there he was flown to New Delhi with assigned police officials in order to take part in the Bodo Peace Agreement signed on January 27 this year.
