On Dec 14, MDA govt delegation met Amit Shah in New Delhi to urge the Central govt to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya

Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma is in New Delhi to meet Union home minister Amit Shah and finalise issues related to implementing Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.

“I have sought an appointment to meet Union home minister Amit Shah. I am yet to get a confirmation from his office,” Sangma told EastMojo over the phone from New Delhi.

EastMojo has earlier reported that Shah had asked Sangma to meet him post January 26 to discuss issues related to ILP.

Sangma was to meet Shah New Year concerning the resolution to implement Inner Line Permit in the state of Meghalaya. But due to certain issues, the meeting did not happen.

Days earlier Sangma briefed the media and said that Shah asked him to meet after Republic Day.

With pressure from the local NGOs and the outcry over the implementation of ILP, several questions have emerged whether Meghalaya will get ILP or not.

Sangma said that he would be meeting several other union ministers, including Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and Union road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari. “I will be taking up development issues of the states with many of the union ministers,” Sangma said.
