People in queue to enroll their names under Ayushman Bharat scheme

Agartala: After the inception of Ayushman Bharat on September 25, 2018, a total of 8,42,606 people have received the golden card and among them, 47,142 people have received the benefit till December 31 last year, said Tripura law minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Speaking with reporters, Nath said that according to the census of 2011, a total of 20.57 lakh people were listed to get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme and 88 government and two private hospitals were empanelled through National Heath Authority while 1,551 kinds of facilities were enlisted.

“Till December 31 last year of 8,42,606 people have received e-card of Ayushman Bharat in Tripura and 47,142 people were benefited by the scheme. Though the state government had uploaded the bills of these beneficiaries and claimed fund, while the government had received payment of Rs 17.72 lakh for 39,657 people only, the rest amount would be received soon,” he said.

A total of 118 patients went outside the state till December 31 and the government claimed an amount of Rs 30.46 lakh from the Centre, Ratan Lal Nath said.

Speaking further, Nath said, “The government has noticed that there are a number of people belonging to poor class or BPL category in Tripura and accordingly, the state government has discussed the matter with the central government.”

Moreover, altogether there are 25.9 lakh people who procure rice for Rs 2 per kilo and therefore, the government decided to start Ayushman Tripura scheme similar to Ayushman Bharat project where 4.52 lakh people who were not enrolled previously will get the benefit of this project. The state government will claim the amount from central government later on.
