Agartala: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has decided not to tolerate anti-party activities any longer from any of the party workers or leaders, said Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Pijush Kanti Biswas in Agartala on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Biswas said that the party will no longer tolerate indiscipline within the party. “We have observed that some of the leaders who remain in the party office throughout the day are found having dinner at BJP MLA’s house,” he said.
“The Congress has had bad times due to the acceptance of rebels who return to the party leaving another party. Position to such people will no longer be given,” Biswas said.
Taking a dig on senior Congress leader Subal Bhowmik without naming him, Biswas said the party will not encourage the ‘Aaya Ram- Gaya Rams’ anymore. Warnings have been given to those involved in anti-party activities.
He also the party has received a massive boost during the leadership of former party party chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Deb Barman and they expect he would not take any steps that will cause the party benefiting the ruling BJP in state politics.
Biswas said that the royal family has been associated with congress since ages and Deb Barman was no exception. “We know Deb Barman has left the party but his contribution will always help us in taking the party ahead. We are sure in the upcoming ADC elections the party will perform well,” Biswas said.
Speaking further, he said that a meeting was chaired by the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to take stock over the present scenario of the state. A road map has been prepared and the AICC president has given a green signal to it. The main focus is on defeating BJP and keeping CPIM out of power, Biswas said.
“Decision over the promises made by the BJP party in their vision document was also made. The people are now facing the problem of unemployment and there is a huge scarcity of food, people are being deprived of their rights,” Biswas added.
