Aizawl: Lalramthanga Tochhawng, a retired IA&AS officer, was sworn in as the new chairman of Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Tuesday, official sources said.

State governor PS Sreedharan Pillai administered the oath of office and allegiance to Tochhawng in a swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl, sources said.

Chief Minister Zoramthanga, his cabinet colleagues, MLAs and other senior officials and special invitees attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Tochhawng is a highly-experienced bureaucrat, who has been posted in various posts. He had been posted as director, secretary, commissioner and secretary for key departments in Mizoram.

When the accountant general’s office was inaugurated in Mizoram, he was appointed as the first accountant general and was later promoted to the first Principal Accountant General of Mizoram.

Tochhawng was the first principal accountant general of Telengana state when it was created in 2015. Recently, he retired as additional deputy comptroller and auditor general.
