Aizawl: C Lalrosanga, the lone Lok Sabha MP from Mizoram, came home on an Air India flight to Aizawl on Tuesday. However, he was met with a huge demonstration at Lengpui Airport by the apex Mizo students’ body — Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) — and members of North East Students Union (NESO) with ‘puan dum’ to highlight their opposition against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
At the airport, NESO finance secretary Ricky L Colney said, “This is not a personal vendetta against our MP C Lalrosanga. Rather, this is to demonstrate that we are against the CAA, which is against the secular foundation of India.”
He further added that NESO and MZP will continue to fight with the brothers and sisters of the neighbouring states.
MZP president B Vanlatana said, “The MZP is not against any single political party or is fighting for the gain of a single party. The fact is, we are against CAA, which is a Bill that is against the Christian minorities of India.”

He further added that he is saddened by the fact that a political party assumes that it is a fight against their party. He highlighted that the MZP will fight the CAA to the end and if the ruling party (Mizo National Front government) is in support of such an Act, they question the nationalist ideology of the MNF.
There were many chants by students and other protestors of CAA against the MP for his support of the Act at the parliament.
The Mizo Nationalist Party also received the MP at the airport and garlanded him with ‘tawlhloh puan’ (a Mizo traditional cloth used to garland the brave and the undefeated).
