Agartala: The state government has decided to reopen the file of Chand Mohan Tripura murder case to get justice for the “sacrifice” he made for the party, said chief minister and state BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb.

Speaking at a mass gathering at Gandacherra on the third death anniversary of Chanda Mohan Tripura on Thursday, Deb said that case was filed along with the charge sheet in the lower court but the accused later got bail.

During the previous government, papers produced in the court were not enough to hold the accused persons guilty and therefore, the court granted them bail. Now, the BJP government has decided to reopen the file and do the needful so that justice is delivered through the court.

Chand Mohan was an elected member of BJP from the Dalapati village council. He was allegedly killed by some miscreants on December 26, 2016.

“Many people like Nishikanta Chakma, Gour Hari Molsom sacrificed their lives at the hands of the CPI-M backed goons. When the erstwhile government felt that the decades-long indigenous people, who have been their vote bank, have started reverting they started killing one after another. But the killings could not save the previous government,” Deb said.

He also said that there was a time when a few members of the BJP were elected either panchayat or village council and Chand was one of them.

“On this day, three years ago, Chand Mohan was brutally killed. He was an elected member and today we have 36 MLAs in the assembly in addition to representatives in all panchayats, except 11, across the state,” Deb added.

He also said that the BJP-IPFT government is working for the development of the state in every aspect. “The BJP-IPFT government has asked for the strengthening of Autonomous District Council and also proposed the name as Tripura Territorial Council. The CPIM never had the intention to work. We have decided to open a hospital in Khumulwng and increase the seat of the council,” Deb said.

He also assured the people that the government would spend over Rs 200 crore for developing pisciculture in the Dumboor lake for the indigenous people. The chief minister later visited Mog para and interacted with the people in the locality.

Meawhile, durig the meetig, CPIM leader and member of district council Potiram Tripura joined BJP while state president Biplab Kumar Deb welcomed him by handing over the party flag.

Speaking at the event, Potiram said that the ADC has been deprived of the rights during the CPI-M government ruling as the people were forced to walk in rallies in support of the government.

The present government has taken initiatives for the betterment of the ADC people and that reflects in the work done so far.

East Tripura MP Rebati Tripura, BJP state general secretary Rajib Bhattacharjee, Dhalai district president Tapas Majumder, MLA Parimal Debbarma and Mandal president Bhumikananda Reang were present on the occasion.
