Aizawl: A national interactive tour for students of Sainik School Chhingchhip to Mumbai and Pune was flagged in by Brig Vinod S on Saturday.

At a glittering ceremony in Aizawl, the 15-day-long National Interactive Tour (NIT), which was organised by Serchhip Battalion of the Assam Rifles, was flagged in by Brig Vinod S, DIG, 23 Sector Assam Rifles, on Saturday. The tour, which comprised of 15 students and two teachers, accompanied by an administrative team of Serchhip Battalion, was flagged off from Sainik School Chhingchhip on November 19.

During the course of the tour, the NIT team visited various places of national, historical and tourist attractions in Mumbai and Pune, in addition to Sainik School, Satara, Maharashtra. The students also visited a number of premier defence training academies and establishments, with the highlight being able to witness the Passing Out Parade of the National Defence Academy in Pune and a comprehensive visit to the Naval Dockyards in Mumbai, to include visit to a submarine and a latest and modern destroyer ship. One of the most enjoyable parts of the tour was the journey by Indian Railways, which was undertaken by many students for the first time.

The children were visibly excited and happy to have been part of the tour and shared their experiences and memories during the flagging-in ceremony. Brig Vinod S congratulated the students on the successful completion of the tour and exhorted the students to apply the knowledge and experience gained by them in positively contributing to society and the nation at large.

The students and parents expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for having provided them the opportunity of touring the country thereby creating memories of a lifetime.
