Mumbai: Following a technical glitch, HDFC Bank’s net banking website and mobile application remained down for the second consecutive day causing much trouble to customers in doing transactions and keeping thousands out of their accounts throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday so far.

Both the website and mobile app of HDFC Bank remained down while displaying a ‘server down due to heavy traffic’ message as customers tried to login in. In a statement, the leading private sector bank later clarified that the bank’s technical team is working on solving the server problems.

Posting on its official Twitter handle, HDFC Bank also tweeted that due to a technical glitch, some of the bank’s customers are having trouble in logging into their internet banking and mobile banking applications.

“Our experts are working on it on top priority, and we’re confident we’ll be able to restore services NSA 0.07 % shortly”, the tweet added.

Meanwhile, thousands of HDFC customers took to Twitter throughout the day on Monday and early on Tuesday and expressed their displeasure after many of them failed to access their accounts to transfer funds and make bill payments on time.

The bank’s mobile application witnessed a similar crash last year somewhere around the same time when a new version of the mobile app couldn’t take the end of the month payday traffic.

Holding a customer base of 50 million, HDFC Bank is the largest private sector bank in the country and one of the largest retail banks in the world.
