Dimapur: Hornbill Music Festival, considered one of the biggest music events in India, got underway in Dimapur, Nagaland on Sunday. Inaugurated by state housing and mechanical minister Tongpang Ozukum, the 10-day event is being held at Agri Expo in Dimapur till December 10. The festival is being managed and produced by LiveNow Events and supported by Task Force for Music and Arts, Nagaland and Nagaland Tourism.
The festival opened with a refreshing and interesting line-up with the tagline ‘Crossroads’. The town came alive with original numbers and some covers played by bands and artistes such as Divine Connection, Tali Angh and The Band, Tokaholi Chishi, Ayim Longchar and Asin Sourhozelie who set the tone for the rest of the music festival.

In an exclusive interview with EastMojo, LiveNow Events director Atsung Jamir said: “To really get the taste and flavour of any place in Nagaland, it is very important to listen to the music.” The festival will cater to the taste buds of all kinds of music lovers, he added.

Held every year, Hornbill Music Festival witnesses some of the finest bands and musicians from across the world. It sets the benchmark for music festivals across the country. The event also witnesses a massive turnout of audience — last year, there was a footfall of over 40,000, as per some reports.
