Mumbai: Remembering the gruesome attack on 26/11, tributes on social media started pouring in from early hours of Tuesday, as the country and the world remembered the victims who lost their lives in the ghastly Mumbai terror attacks on November 26, 2008.
Union defence minister Rajnath Singh took to his Twitter handle and shared a strong message for the nation: “On the 11th anniversary of Mumbai Attack, let us take a pledge that these sacrifices will not go in vain. Let us collectively ensure that 26/11 is never repeated in future. Terrorism is a crime against humanity and it will be defeated with firm conviction & collective will power”.

US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster wrote: “ Today marks the 11th Anniversary of the #MumbaiTerrorAttack. As we remember and honor the victims and stand side-by-side with the people of India, we must remain strong and united in the face of terrorism, and more determined than ever to defeat it. #2611Attack.”

During the Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008, of the 26 foreign nationals who lost their lives, five were US citizens.

Ambassador of France to India Emmanuel Lenain also paid his tribute on Tuesday: “#MumbaiAttacks 26/11: 11 yrs after the horrific attacks, France pays tribute to the memory of its many victims, which included 2 French citizens. France reaffirms its very strong condemnation of all forms of terrorist violence & stands by India in combating this global scourge”.

Earlier in October, India and France strengthened their defence ties, with Union defence minister Singh and French minister of armed forces Florence Parly reviewed on the spectrum of bilateral defence engagement and commitment and combat terrorism.
Besides many institutions, political organisations and celebrities also commemorated the day for its dark history.
Considered as the black day, on the night of November 26, 2008 ten Pakistan-based terrorist attacked Mumbai at five major locations killing 166 people and injuring over 300 people.
