Aizawl: A five-day National Integration Camp, organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, began in Aizawl from Monday. Mizoram’s sports and youth affairs minister Robert Romawia inaugurated the camp at Luangmual Youth Hostel. Over 250 students from 12 states are participating in the camp.

In his inaugural speech, Royte said that different parts of India have different cultures, values and traditions. All should respect this diversity and make India a beautiful garden.

The minister told the participants that he himself had attended such an integration camp in 1986 in Chandigarh and got benefited from it. He called upon the youths to make India a fit nation.

He said that although Mizoram is a fit state, the state government wants to make it the fittest state in India. He also applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address in which he had asked the countrymen to visit 12 places in a year.

In his address, Commanding Officer, 46 Assam Rifles Col. Biplav Tripathi called upon youth to join Army as their career. He said that Army itself is a life style which teaches a lot.

Madhavi Agarwal, member BOG, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, said that the Northeast has got importance during the regime of Prime Minister Modi. Participants from Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and Mizoram are participating in the National Integration Camp. Different cultural and social functions, panel discussions and other programmes will be held during the camp.

During the five-day national integration camp, youths from 12 states including Assam, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maniour, Nagaland, Orissa, Sikkim, Tripura and Mizoram will interact and learn about each cultures and tradition. They will also have a tour of various parts of Mizoram.
