Diphu: A personal security officer (PSO) of Assam hills area development minister Sum Ronghang died on spot in a road mishap that occurred on National Highway 329 in the Dharamtul locality of Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.
As per sources, the deceased PSO, identified as 50-year old Birendra Terang, was traveling in the convoy car of minister Ronghang and was returning home after attending a cultural programme of Kasomari Ragh at Dharamtul when the incident happened.

The ill-fated car fell into a canal at Rajapathar area along Diphu-Manja road after its driver lost control while giving way to a motorbike coming from the opposite direction.
Spotted by passersby and locals in the area, Terang was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors.
