
Guwahati: A picture showing two policewomen comforting babies, while their mothers were appearing in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) on Sunday, has taken the Internet by storm.
The photo was taken outside Don Bosco High School, Mangaldoi in Assam’s Darrang district. It was uploaded by the official Twitter handle of Assam Police and has garnered heaps of praises for the cops’ noble act.
Sharing the image, the state police department wrote, “Mother is a verb. It’s something you do, not just who you are! Assam Police personnel in Darrang district taking care of the lil’ ones, while their mothers write the TET Exam.”

Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia, while retweeting the post, wrote, “Children sleep soundly in mother’s tender arms. When their Moms are busy writing teacher recruitment (TET) exam ,Assam Police ensured that the babies are cuddled up in safe & secure hands. ”

Twitterati went gaga over the noble gesture. A user wrote, “Policing is not only about catching criminals, helping the society is as much important as putting a thug behind bars.” While another said, “These ladies reflect d society they come from.. Assamese society..”
Meanwhile, a user highlighted that another male cop on the said day was taking care of another baby while his mother appeared for the TET exam.

The TET, which was conducted across Assam on November 10, is the minimum basic requirement for teachers to teach students from Classes I to VIII in India. The examination is divided into two sets; one for teachers applying to teach in Classes I to V and the second for those who want to teach in Classes VI to VIII.
