Kohima: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday launched the online portal for Inner Line Permit (ILP) for domestic tourists at the Secretariat in Kohima. While the application process began prior to the launch of the portal www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in, the applications were officially scrutinised and processed for further verification by the office of the home commissioner.
The portal was launched in the presence of deputy chief minister of Nagaland, Y Patton. Principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha, who chaired the launch ceremony, said that any tourist can now log in to www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in to register for ILP. A One Time Password (OTP) will be generated through an SMS alert on the registered phone number to verify the applicant. Thereafter, details of the applicant shall be submitted along with a passport-size photo and a valid government recognised Photo ID such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, EPIC card, driving licence, passport or government ID card. For children below 10 years, only a school photo ID is required. After all required details are filled up, the applicant can process to submit the online application.
Sinha said that the submitted details are automatically transmitted electronically to the commissioner Nagaland, who has been authorised to examine the applications, following which the applicant will receive the approval of the ILP electronically.
“Once it is approved, the applicant will get an SMS in his/her registered phone and an email will also be sent conveying that his/her ILP application has been approved and he/she may proceed for online payment. The applicant will then go the ILP Portal (www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in) and make online payment which is Rs 50 for 15 days’ duration, and Rs 100 for 30 days’ duration,” said Sinha.
After the payment, the applicant will be issued an ILP card electronically and intimation will be sent to him/her via SMS and email clearly mentioning the ILP number. Thereafter, the applicant may simply download the ILP card in his/her email or visit the online ILP portal and then enter the received ILP number to download the ILP card. The tourist may either take a print out of the ILP Card or a digital copy of the same on his/her mobile phone and the same will be considered as a valid ILP document when accompanied by a valid government recognised Photo ID in original.
The online ILP portal was launched to ease the ILP registration process for any tourist visiting the state, particularly during the upcoming Hornbill Festival. The move comes as an attempt to towards e-governance which is aimed to improve the overall quality of monitoring the implementation of the ILP regime.
All concerned enforcement agencies or the government will have an access to real time information of the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits and the places of visit.
While the present Online ILP module is only for domestic tourists, this comes as an addition to the already existing manual mode of ILP registration for domestic tourist. The home department, government of Nagaland expressed further plans to scale up and reinforce the online ILP module by including all other categories of ILP applicants and by providing several other online verification features in the days ahead.
As an easy and convenient means for ILP registration, domestic tourists who wish to extend their stay beyond 15 or 30 days can undergo the same online ILP registration as each applicant is assigned a unique permanent code.
The online ILP registration which entertains one-time payment for each registration is also an attempt towards reducing the number of taxations at various check gates.
Meanwhile, the module for online ILP for tourists has been designed and developed for the home department, by the department of information technology & communication, as part of promoting e-Governance in the state as well as for improving the implementation of the ILP regime.
