Naga Students’ Federation rubbishes ‘ISIS connection’, says fake

Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Monday rubbished a viral message which has been doing the rounds on social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp and Facebook, alleging the apex Naga students’ body’s “connection” with ISIS, an international terror group.

A clarification issued by NSF vice president Dievi Yano and general secretary Liremo Kikon said that the federation is “deeply pained” by a certain message doing the rounds in various social media groups where “one of the former presidents as well as the current president of the federation” were accused of having “easy access to an internationally designated terrorist group, i.e., ISIS”.

Quoting a line from the viral message which reads “as demonstrated in the recently conducted mass rally in Delhi”, the federation placed on record that the “subjected message” is a “blatant lie created by unknown individual(s) with malicious intent to defame the leaders of the federation”.

Furthermore, the NSF directed “the creator(s) of ‘the message’ to come clean before the officials of the federation within one week from the date of issue of this clarification, failing which, the NSF shall be compelled to pursue the matter by lodging a formal police complaint”.

Urging the general public not to give any credence to it, it appealed the public “to be mindful of various fake news doing the rounds on various social media groups and desist from blindly forwarding them”.
