Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that CPI-M is full of corrupt people, from top to the bottom, while inaugurating a Kali Puja event in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district on Monday.
Deb made the comment while talking about former PWD minister Badal Choudhury who is accused of an alleged PWD scam carried out in 2008-2009 and amounting to more than Rs 600 crore. Choudhury has been undergoing treatment in Agartala’s ILS hospital since October 21.
“The party is of corrupt [people], and for corrupt [people]. Had they were not corrupt then they would have not come down to the streets protesting against the ongoing investigation. Now that the investigation is on, they have lost their mind,” Deb said.
Speaking further, he said that prior to the assembly elections a promise was made to the people to make the state corruption-free and reveal the scams and irregularities made during the last 25 years.
“I have handed over all the chit fund cases to the CBI for investigation and all the scams that took place in the state would be made public soon. Those who will be found engaged in the scams and in corruption will not be spared. No compromise with them,” Deb said.
The chief minister also said that nobody knew that such big scams would have taken place in the PWD. Deb added that he will expose everyone involved in corruption and scams within five years of his government.
“Badal Choudhury was the PWD minister when the irregularities were made in his department. When the matter was taken up in the state assembly, Choudhury had promised full cooperation during the investigation. But after the court rejected the bail petition, he was on the run and later got admitted to hospital to escape investigation,” Deb alleged.
“Before 2023, all the scams that had taken place during the Left front government will be exposed,” Deb added.
